A domaine founded in 1988 by Henri-Frédéric Roch, the nephew of Lalou Bize-Leroy, who also served as a co-manager of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti starting in 1992. Drawing on research into ancient documents, he revived and implemented the viticultural and winemaking methods practiced by Cistercian monks over 700 years ago. In Roch's words, "This is a cultivation method aimed at maintaining fertile soil by activating microorganisms and achieving harmony with cosmic order." The logo depicted on the label originates from ancient Egyptian texts. The green pattern resembling an upright kitchen knife on the left represents a grapevine, the three red dots below represent grape clusters, the yellow ellipse at the upper right symbolizes God, and the lower yellow ellipse represents humankind—reflecting his philosophy that wine is created through the combined efforts of nature (God) and man. Yannick Champ, whose fateful encounter with Henri-Frédéric through the Paris wine shop Auger led him to switch to a career in winemaking, joined the domaine in 2005 as head winemaker and became co-manager in 2010. Following the passing of Henri-Frédéric in 2018, which was deeply mourned by the wine world, Yannick now leads the domaine.
