ARBOIS GRAND CUROULET CHARDONNAY Much like "ARBOIS GRAND CUROULET SAVAGNIN OUILLÉ," this parcel was acquired in 2012, the year the domaine was established, and is said to be one of the very first vineyards planted in Arbois, as well as one of its finest. At the time of purchase, it was planted with old vines over 60 years old, but as they were no longer producing optimal fruit, most of the vines were uprooted and the land was meticulously prepared. In 2015, a 5-hectare plot was planted with two-thirds Savagnin and one-third Chardonnay. The Chardonnay is planted on the higher-elevation section of this parcel, where the marly soils—reminiscent of Volnay's Premier Cru "Clos des Ducs"—impart a striking tension to the wine. Fermentation is carried out in 350-liter and 500-liter oak barrels as well as 20- to 60-hectoliter large casks (foudres), and the wine is aged in seasoned 500-liter barrels. It displays a refined, elegant bouquet, abundant minerality, and a long finish, offering a drier and more linear profile than the blended Chardonnay. Doc. Finesse
