2023, like 2022, was hot and dry, but harvest conditions were cooler than in 2022 — easier to work in and better for the wine. The fruit was excellent and yields were good, yet the wines lack the sheer power of 2022 and show a cooler nuance. For the reds in particular, maceration was shortened relative to 2022, so the colours are paler. The whites are energetic and full-bodied, with acidity and minerality in fine balance and pronounced savoury depth. Where 2022 favoured the reds, in 2023 it is the whites that make the finer vintage.
