Jean-Marie Bouzereau — the wines we carry

6 bottles

The Bouzereau family, residing in Meursault since the 16th century, originally worked as stonemasons and coopers before clearing vineyards in the wake of the French Revolution. They are a producer with a viticultural heritage spanning over ten generations.

Current head Jean-Marie Bouzereau graduated from the Beaune wine school, gained practical experience and insight through internships at wineries in the United States and Australia, and joined the family domaine in 1994. Since his two grandfathers were winegrowers in Meursault and Volnay respectively, he inherited their vineyards and now produces red wines from Volnay, Pommard, and Beaune, alongside white wines from Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet, bringing his total holdings to nine hectares.

The vineyards are managed under the lutte raisonnée approach, respecting the natural environment and minimizing chemical treatments wherever possible. Chardonnay is harvested by hand, pressed immediately, and subjected to cold settling for 24 hours. It is then transferred to 228-liter oak barrels for alcoholic fermentation at 21°C for several weeks, aged for over 12 months, lightly filtered, and bottled.

Pinot Noir is hand-harvested, rigorously sorted, and 100% destemmed. It undergoes cold maceration in enamel tanks to extract color and aromas, followed by alcoholic fermentation over 10 to 14 days with regular punch-downs (pigeage). Aging takes place in 228-liter oak barrels for 16 to 18 months, and the wine is bottled unfiltered. Both white and red wines are fermented exclusively with indigenous yeasts.
