CHÂTEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE BLANC 50% Roussanne, 50% Clairette. The vineyards are located in clay-limestone parcels, offering a cool terroir ideally suited for white wine grape varieties. Up until the 2005 vintage, Grenache Blanc was also utilized, but following vine disease and subsequent replanting, the wine has been crafted exclusively from Roussanne and Clairette in recent years. The harmonious interplay between the mellowness of Roussanne and the acidity of Clairette endows this wine with extraordinary potential. The 2020 vintage was hot, dry, and notably early-ripening. However, it avoided the extreme heatwaves seen in Burgundy; while July remained completely dry, moderate rainfall in August allowed the grapes to achieve optimal ripeness. This resulted in lower alcohol levels and better balance than the 2019 vintage. While the 2020 certainly has the structure for aging, its fresh, elegant, and supple texture makes it immensely enjoyable in its youth. The 2021 vintage yielded smaller quantities due to spring frost; with a cold spring and summer temperatures failing to climb significantly, it required a longer growing season than most recent years. This classic expression is defined by a lower alcohol content and a vibrant, clean acidity. (Source: Finesse Co., Ltd.)
