VOLNAY 1ER CRU FREMIETS Volnay 1er Cru Fremiets 100% Pinot Noir. Situated on the border with Pommard, this plot covers approximately 1.57 hectares on a clay-limestone soil interspersed with outcrops of marl. Among the estate's holdings, this parcel typically sees the earliest ripening and is frequently the first to be harvested. It offers a delicate sweetness, a clean and linear acidity, and exceptional balance with a lingering finish—an elegant yet voluminous wine. The spring and summer of 2022 were characterized by persistent dry heat, culminating in a genuinely scorching season with virtually no rainfall. Naturally, this led to an early ripening of the grapes, prompting harvest to begin on August 23rd—the second earliest date on record following 2020. However, much like the hot and dry years of 2019 and 2020, this vintage avoided the typical drawbacks of such conditions and delivered magnificent results. With yields remaining in line with historical averages and the quality of both red and white grapes being utterly faultless, this stands as a rare and unprecedented vintage.
